How To Enable Gmail’s “Package Tracking” Feature On Your Phone

Gmail has made package tracking simpler and easier. Online shopping and ordering different products from e-commerce websites have become common nowadays. Shoppers have to wait for their packages to arrive, and tracking shipments can sometimes be tricky after placing an online order. Order tracking information is also accessible from your email inbox if you are not using the online shopping app. However, there are times when package tracking emails end up in the spam folder. To help you with these situations, the Google-owned free email service, Gmail, introduced the “package tracking” feature in the month of November.

With the help of this feature, Gmail keeps track of your packages and displays delivery details right in the inbox after the order is placed. Orders with tracking numbers will display pertinent delivery details even in the list view of your inbox. Users will be able to view a summary card and the current delivery status for each individual email.

The package tracking feature in Gmail provides all the important details, such as the expected arrival date and status of the order. Additionally, this feature offers labels like “Arriving tomorrow” or “Delivered today” for quick information. Users have to enable the feature in Gmail’s settings in order to receive updates on package delivery in their inbox. Here’s how it done:

1. Open the Gmail app on your phone.

2. Tap on the three horizontal line menu available at the top left corner.

3. Scroll to the bottom and go to Settings.

4. Then, select the Gmail account.

5. Under the General tab, check the box next to Package tracking.

As soon as you enable the feature, Gmail will use the tracking numbers to automatically look for order statuses and display them in your inbox. Users can always turn off this feature from the settings menu. Gmail will display a delay label and move the email with the order details to the top of your inbox in the upcoming days as well.

The feature was initially introduced in the US, and now it is available for users in other regions as well. However, the new Gmail feature is yet to be released for the desktop version of the app.
